The Bomber Jacket
While originally developed by the military to keep pilots warm in their cockpits - the Bomber Jacket has trickled down through many eras to be adopted by different subcultures. From the punks of the 60s to the letterman jackets worn by American sports teams, it was later worn by artists in the NY hip-hop scene of the 1990s. A jacket that's been worn for almost 80 years, the details and fit that make this silhouette so iconic remain mostly unchanged! From the elastic waistband designed to hold the jacket in place to the ease given around the arms that allow for layering.
This winter we have used this timeless style as inspiration for our Classic Bomber Jacket. Adding larger, deeper patch pockets on the front and using a thick wale British cord for durability.
