The Rebirth of Heritage Fabrics
Over the last few seasons, we've seen the re-popularisation of some very traditional fabrics in menswear.
Moleskins and corduroys are two materials that have their roots in traditional utilitarian styles (think of farmers and land workers in the Victorian era) and are currently featuring pretty heavily across lots of brands' AW17 collections (from Prada and Hermès to Off-White). These fabrics were widely adopted as they were hard wearing and didn't easily show signs of wear, all while having a soft, luxury handfeel. In 2017, they're not so much used in physical labour but lend themselves to soft tailoring with a slight rock edge.
