Roe Ethridge, Shelter Island

åÊ

Miami-born photographer Roe Ethridge (b. 1969) is best known for flouting the boundaries between commercial, conceptual and personal uses of photography. His zine-like photobook Shelter Island, documents a family holiday in Long Island, New York. At once spontaneous and synthetic, contemporary and nostalgic, Ethridge‰۪s chronicling of summertime appears both acutely personal and stylised, speckled with photographic tropes shown to us askance.
